Henry County, Georgia - Revolutionary Soldier

This is the McDonough City Cemetery where Revolutionary hero Ezekiel Cloud rests.

"Ezekiel Cloud's Grave"

Important Revolutionary Soldier who settled
In Henry County

Ezekiel Cloud was born on March 14, 1762. He served his country and state voluntarily as he enlisted in 1778 while a resident of Wilkes County. While serving in the militia he fought under Col. Elijah Clarke at the Battle of Kettle Creek, the second seige of Augusta, Briar Creek, Cowpens, Ninety six, Guilford Courthouse, Long Cane Creek, Waffords Iron Works, and Kings Mountain. He also fought Indians at Fort Hinton, Ga. In May 1782.

During these tours of duty he served under the following:

1. Col. John Dooley
2. Capt. Daniel Gunnels
3. Capt. George Walton
4. Col. Elijah Clarke
5. Capt. Joseph Nail

Ezekiel Cloud died on May 30, 1850. His grave was on his homestead two miles south of McDonough on Hwy 155 until he was moved to the McDonough City Cemetery in 1973. There was no mention of moving his wife. Apparently, her grave is still on the old homestead and probably has been destroyed by development
Likely due to the fact they couldn't find her grave.

This is when they moved the bones of Ezekiel Cloud to McDonough city cemetery.

This is a close up I took of the grave

My wife & I went to the McDonough City government offices numerous times to fix the grave stone of Ezekiel Cloud, at McDonough City cemetery.

The McDonough city officials told me that it looked like lightning had hit the grave stone.

This is how the grave stone looked after they fixed it.
